Huntington has one of the most vibrant walkable downtowns in Long Island. Restaurants and stores stretch for several blocks along Main Street and intersecting roads. Besides its gastronomic delights, the hamlet is known for its varied arts venues. The Cinema Arts Centre shows eclectic films, The Paramount attracts big-name musical performers, and the Heckscher Museum of Art, with gallery exhibits, sits in Heckscher Park, site of the Summer Arts Festival, featuring concerts, plays, and kids’ entertainment almost nightly. Huntington’s independent book store, Book Revue, draws big-name authors for book signings. And then there’s the waterfront, where beaches and marinas add to the appeal.
